Bf 110C 3U + KT of Hptm Helmut Zittier of 8/ZG26
in March of 1941 in Trapani, Italy.

I have been able to verify that the colour for the 8th staffel was yellow and that the last code letter was a 'T' and also that the first two '3U' were indeed the code for ZG 26. I have also verified that the staffel emblem for the 8th was a scrawny looking cat with an arched back in front of double inverted chevrons, as they appear on the nose here.

Some question has been raised as to the accuracy of the colour of the camouflage. Suffice it to say that I worked off a profile that I had in a book- "the Hamlyn concise guide to Axis Aircraft of WW2" Authored by David Mondey. The particular Illustration was signed by David Fretwell. I have experienced before a certain amount of 'colour shift' when trying to work from some of these profiles, and it can be open to some variance. So I don't prtend that these colours are 100% historically correct, only that they are true to the resources I had available.

As the 8th staffel of JG26 carried on their air war later in Crete, I'll leave it that these were the colours for the initial campaign in Italy and that they were changed later to a more grey/green mottled camouflage once they got to Greece.

Given time, I may release this same camo with an introduced colour shift to the more standard tonal scheme, just to 'cover' the bases.

The aircraft was made for the stunning 3dz work on the 110c of Colonel Gibbon sporting my other skin, the green splinter camo of 2N+GB of Wolfgang Falck of ZG1. Available at Sandbaggers also. And, like that one, this also has the damage files for the 'blown' off wings etc.

Thanks also go to Chompy for straightening out the virtual wingview 3dz to improve the engine look for me,and for the deflection cockpits.

Any comments / questions can be made at SimHQ and I'll answer them if I can.

Enjoy, and don't spill the gelati 8?)
